We are writing to express concern on behalf of many local residents and business patrons regarding the recent closure of the drive-thru at the Wells Fargo Bank branch here in New Canaan.

For years, the drive-thru has provided essential convenience and accessibility for our community—particularly for seniors, individuals with mobility challenges, parents with young children, and those with tight schedules. It has been a trusted and efficient option that allowed us to conduct banking safely and quickly, especially during inclement weather or high-traffic times in town.
What makes this change more frustrating is that just blocks away, Chase Bank continues to offer full drive-thru service to its customers, demonstrating both the feasibility and continued demand for this type of banking convenience in our community. The contrast is stark and has led many to question Wells Fargo’s commitment to serving the everyday needs of its local clientele.
We respectfully urge Wells Fargo to reconsider this decision and re-engage with the community to better understand our concerns. The drive-thru was more than a convenience—it was a valued part of our daily routine, and its absence is deeply felt.
We also encourage other Wells Fargo customers who share these concerns to make their voices heard. Community feedback matters, and together we can help influence decisions that impact our daily lives.
Sincerely,
Joe and Joanne Napolitano
Sending a resounding support of your letter. The Bank has already “heard” from me and I’ll follow up with yet more comments. The tellers tell me there isn’t enough business to justify staff– well, they don’t hire staff to only service the windows as the counter staff cover both the windows and counters so that argument falls flat. Having had major back surgery and both knee replacements last year, I was totally dependent upon the service provided at the drive through window. Thanks for writing and encouraging Wells Fargo customers to register our displeasure.
