Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Exchange Club of New Canaan, we want to thank the entire New Canaan community and nearby towns for buying Christmas trees and wreaths from our annual fundraiser at Kiwanis Park. The incredible support has made our fundraising a tremendous success this year, as it has been for over 50 years. We sold over 1,200 trees and 300 wreaths in addition to assorted lights, tree stands and roping. Those sales helped us net over $120,000 this year, which will go 100% to local not-for-profit and community organizations.

We could have not been successful without the help many organizations and our dedicated member volunteers. Special thanks go to the Service League of Boys, Pivot Ministries, , the New Canaan Recreation Department, the Chamber of Commerce, Old Faithful, and our neighbor and friend, Betty Lovastik.

Our Grants and Donations process begins this Spring. In 2023, we supported more than 35 local organizations in addition to our largest recipient, the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Stamford, whose primary mission is to improve the health, well being and safety of children. We anticipate supporting many good causes this year–many thanks for helping us help others!

  1. Is it just me or is the Acme supermarket in New Canaan the worlds worse food store in America. I have never walked out of there with everything I need.
The people that work there are great but the company that runs the store has no real idea what it is doing. The staff always tells me that what I want,
” is on the next truck”. What kind of crap is that. I complain to the company all the time and they just don’t care.
I’ve started to shop at “stop and shop” in Wilton and they blow Acme away. There shelves are always stocked, and their selection is way better.
I can only hope Acme goes under, I’m just not sure, I’m young enough.
