Letter: Young Women’s League Thanks Community for Support of 47th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

To the Editor:

Thank you to the entire community for supporting the Young Women’s League of New Canaan’s reinvented 47th Annual Easter Egg Hunt! The Young Women’s League of New Canaan is proud to have kept our Easter Egg Hunt tradition alive even during a global pandemic. This year’s 47th Annual Easter Egg Hunt was reinvented to bring the best of the iconic Easter Egg Hunt directly to families at home on Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th. The support from local families was unprecedented and we sold out this event in record time (less than one week)! We were able to provide Egg Hunt at Home packages, which included pre-filled Easter eggs, bunny ears, and fun Easter-themed toys and activities, and personal Easter Bunny visits to local families. Even the Spring showers didn’t keep us from spreading Easter cheer to 75 families this past weekend!

Thanks to strong sponsor and community support, we were able to raise over $11,000 from the Easter Egg Hunt in support of this year’s giving theme: Local Giving, Lasting Impact. These funds will go to support the Basic Needs Relief Fund for our Featured Beneficiary, Domus Kids, and the YWL Giving Fund, which will distribute these funds to local organizations impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

We wish to extend a special thank you to our sponsors: Porsche Greenwich, Ashley Petraska – William Pitt Sothebys, New Canaan Pediatric Dentistry, and Prizio Roofing and Siding. We would not be able to pivot and reimagine our fundraising events without their continued support during this unprecedented year. We are especially grateful to our entire planning committee who worked hard to bring this reimagined event to life, our membership who assisted in stuffing 7,500 Easter eggs, and the New Canaan High School Service League of Boys and National Charity League New Canaan for spreading Easter cheer to many local children as our fluffle of Easter bunnies.
