Police arrested a 22-year-old New Canaan woman before dawn on Thanksgiving morning and charged her with evading responsibility.

She is accused of leaving the scene of single-car accident in the area of Ferris Hill and Canoe Hill Roads that resulted in a power outage, according to a police report.

At about 4 a.m. on Nov. 26, police were dispatched to the area of Brushy Ridge and Lone Tree Farm Roads on a report of a motor vehicle accident. There, they discovered from Eversource employees that a pole down the road had been damaged, resulting in a breaker tripping, the report said.

The utility’s workers followed a trail of fluid running away from the pole and it led to a car parked on Lone Tree Farm Road that had damage consistent with impacting the pole, the report said.

Police ultimately identified the New Canaan woman, a Main Street resident, as the motorist at fault, it said.

She was additionally cited for failure to drive in the established lane.

Police released her on $250 bond and scheduled her to appear Dec. 10 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
