Police last week arrested a 58-year-old Norwalk man and charged him with failure to take a sobriety test.

At about 12:18 a.m. on Sept. 9 (a Monday), an officer on patrol spotted a car traveling north on Route 123 without a front license plate, according to a police report.

During a subsequent stop, the odor smelled alcohol on the driver, the report said. Police conducted standard field sobriety tests, it said.

It isn’t clear why the man wasn’t charged with driving under the influence.

Back at police headquarters for processing on a charge of failure to display plates, he refused to provide a breath sample, the report said.

The man was released on $300 bond and scheduled to appear Sept. 30 in state Superior Court.
