Michael Louis Rucci, age 67, of Bridgeport, Ct died peacefully January 31, 2021 in St Vincent’s Hospital, Bridgeport, CT

Born in Norwalk on March 12, 1953 he was the son of the late Joseph and Ida Mazza Rucci. He grew up in New Canaan, and graduated from New Canaan High School in 1971. He was a gentle, kind and loving father, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. Michael worked as a barber, carpenter, builder, and most recently a landlord and handyman for the multi-family building he owned in Bridgeport. There he became a favorite babysitter and honorary grandfather to his neighbors’ children, as well as a soft touch for all the four-legged strays in the neighborhood. Good, caring, light-hearted and generous, he will be greatly missed.

Michael is survived by his son, Michael Joseph Rucci, of Norwalk, brothers Joe (Debbie) of New Canaan, Charles of Glendale, AZ. and Peter (Deb) of New London, NH, and sisters Romola Riley (William) of Hamden CT, Carole Snyder of Andover, MA and Diana Cooney of Hamden, CT and 15 nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date with interment in the family plot in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for speeding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease www.michaeljfox.org or the ASPCA to fight animal homelessness www.aspca.org/donate.

  1. Mike will be missed by his NCHS ’71 classmates for his unfailing friendliness and being a wonderful person to be around. Our deepest sympathies to all his family, he will be missed.

  2. Michael was a dear friend and like a big brother. He was a kind gentle soul.
