Police arrested a 61-year-old Bridgeport woman by warrant on Oct. 10 for forging eight checks totaling $1,956, stolen earlier this year from the New Canaan couple for whom she had been employed as a nanny.
Police charged the woman with eight counts of second-degree forgery and fourth-degree larceny.
According to a police report, the woman stole the checks from a North Wilton Road couple—husband and wife 38 and 42, respectively—and committed the forgeries between April 17 and June 2.
The couple provided police with copies of the cancelled checks which had been signed in their names, the report said.
The accused was held on $10,000 and scheduled to appear Oct. 14 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
