Authors@ New Canaan Library Presents Panel on Writing Women’s Fiction

August 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Women’s fiction is one of the most consistently successful genres of published writing. On Tuesday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m. New Canaan Library presents a unique program that explores writing for this specific genre. The event will be held in the Adrian Lamb Room; please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

Three successful authors, Carola Lovering, Jill Santopolo and Beatriz Williams, form a panel that will examine the challenges specific to writing women’s fiction. Some of the topics to be covered include: what it took for each author to break through, what makes women’s fiction distinct and what agents and publishers are specifically looking for. Each author will also discuss their own works. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.

Carola Lovering attended Colorado College, and her work has appeared in W Magazine, National Geographic, Outside, and Yoga Journal, among other publications. Tell Me Lies is her first novel. She currently lives in Brooklyn.

Jill Santopolo is the author of three successful children’s and young-adult series and works as
the editorial director of Philomel Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers group, where she’s edited books by Mayim Bialik, Chelsea Clinton, among others. An adjunct professor in The New School’s MFA program, Jill travels the world to speak about writing and storytelling.

Beatriz Williams is the bestselling author of eight novels, including her current bestseller, The Summer Wives. A native of Seattle, she graduated from Stanford University and earned an MBA in finance from Columbia university, then spent several years in New York and London as a corporate strategy consultant before pursuing her passion for historical fiction.
