Men’s Club speaker discusses investing for retirement in today’s economy
November 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
FreeThe New Canaan Men’s Club will hear about market trends, especially those affecting retirees, from Ajene Oden, a member of J.P. Morgan’s Global Investment Strategy team when it meets Friday, Nov. 21, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge.
Oden recently wrote an analysis called, “Investing for retirement in a world of Fed rate cuts, How to tackle cash, inflation and Fed Rate Cuts.” At a time of rate cuts, Oden noted, inflation has a way of sneaking up on investor portfolios, so holding cash loses strength and can make it harder for retirement investors to reach their goals.
The club meets at 10 a.m. in Morrill Hall at the church with the speaker’s presentation set to begin around 10:40 am.
In his report, Oden noted positively that people are living longer, with healthy couples having a 73% chance of at least one member living to 90-years old, and a one-in-five chance of reaching 100-years old. Known as longevity risk, the article makes the case for implementing a multi-decade strategy so assets don’t run out.
At J.P. Morgan, Oden works with asset class leaders and the chief investment officer’s team to develop and communicate the firm’s economic and market views and investment strategies to advisors and clients. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Aj was a senior investment strategist and official spokesperson for BNY Mellon Investor Solutions, appearing on CNBC, Bloomberg and Yahoo Finance. There, he also served on the investment team, helping to craft the investment views.
The Men’s Club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information about joining, email ncmens@ncmens.org.
