New Canaan Police Chief John DiFederico, who has 33 years with the department, having started as a patrol officer in 1992, will be the New Canaan Men’s Club speaker Friday, Dec. 5.
In his remarks, the chief is likely to describe the current workings of the department, how it has adjusted to its renovated South Avenue headquarters, steps residents can take to protect their property and any trends he sees as chief. He may also discuss the new cameras being added to downtown in order to document and respond to events such as a recent traffic accident that blocked traffic.
The Men’s club meets in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge at 10 a.m. The chief is expected to begin his remarks around 10:40 a.m., after the business portion of the meeting.
DiFederico was named chief in January 2023, after serving nearly five years as deputy chief. He has a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Norwich University in Vermont. He received his masters in Public Administration from the University of New Haven in 2023.
With the upcoming holidays and the annual holiday luncheon, the club’s next regular meeting will be on Jan. 9. The club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information about joining, email ncmens@ncmens.org.
