June is National PTSD Awareness Month – a time to build awareness about the symptoms and treatment of PTSD and to reduce the associated stigma of this challenging condition. PTSD is brought on by experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event – effecting twelve million people in the United States annually. As we cope with the lingering effects of the pandemic, continuous exposure to images of war in Ukraine, and daily reports of mass shootings in our country, we must all take steps to protect the mental health and wellness ofour families.
Through the generous support of New Canaan Community Foundation, and in collaboration with the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress, VOICES Center for Resilience is hosting a 3-part series of virtual workshops on the many facets of “Living with Post-Traumatic Stress”. These programs are free and all members of the community are invited to participate.
Through this series, participants will meet Dr. Lisa-Ann Cuccurullo and Dr. Rebecca Matteo, psychologists affiliated with the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress who will explore signs and symptoms, a variety of treatment options, and provide strategies for living a more fulfilling life with PTSD.
Virtual workshops will take place via Zoom on:
Tuesday, June 14 at 12:00pm – What is PTSD?
Tuesday, June 28 at 12:00pm – Treatments for PTSD
Tuesday, July 12 at 7:00pm – Supporting Individuals Coping with PTSD
Participation is free and registration is required.
Registration is available at:
