There is a downside to having 117 seniors receive high-honors—it’s called “coddling.” The sooner these students realize how competitive it is in the real world the more likely they will be to find/accept suitable employment, rather than assume they’re going to become the next partner at Goldman Sachs.
This is most certainly is NOT everyone gets a trophy. The amount of stress and pressure to do well and succeed is at levels that I promise you we never saw growing up. NCHS is a hard school -kids go to college and say its easier than NCHS. Add to that sports and other activities. We had a 5 pm late bus growing up – that is not a thing anymore – but what that meant was we would get home at 5:30 with plenty of time to decompress and do homework (which was nothing in comparison to what kids get today). These students get up at 6 am to get to school on time, go to school all day, many do after school activities and don’t get home until well past 7 pm. They need to eat do homework, prepare for tests and try to get some time to relax. Bill – you have NO idea what your talking about.

This is the kind of censorship that is happening on college campuses today and perfectly illustrates my point regarding coddling. You snowflakes can’t even entertain ideas that contradict your own . Comments submitted to the site go a queue, and I approve or reject each one individually. I do not continuously monitor that queue, that’s the only reason for a delay between the time a reader submits a comment and when it shows up on the site. I freely and ruthlessly reject submitted comments for a number of reasons. The number one reason is that a reader is using a fake name. In this case, for better or worse, you are not.
