Police last week arrested a 23-year-old New Canaan man by warrant and charged him with evading responsibility.
According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, he also was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, a felony offense.
The warrant resulted from an investigation into a vehicle that had been reported stolen in September 2018, New Canaan Police said.
The man has an extensive history of arrests, court records show:
- February 2019—arrested by Stamford Police and charged with second-degree threatening, interfering and criminal violation of a protective order (pleaded guilty);
- February 2020—arrested by New Canaan Police and charged with violation of a protective order (pleaded guilty);
- December 2022—arrested by Connecticut State Police and charged with third-degree assault (pleaded guilty).
Following his June 1 arrest by NCPD, the man remained in custody on $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear the same day in state Superior Court.
