Police last week arrested a 39-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with assault of a public safety officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, officers responded to a Sunrise Avenue home on a reported dispute, police said.

There, officers spoke to the complainant, who said that the man had come intoxicated, according to a police report.

While police tried to resolve the situation, the man pushed one of the investigating officers into a wall, the report said.

Police charged him with assault of an officer, a felony offense, as well the two misdemeanor offenses.

Police withheld further details, saying it’s a domestic matter.

The man was transported to police headquarters for processing. Police released him on $25,000 bond and scheduled the man to appear Jan. 30.
