Police on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old Riverside man on drug charges after finding pot and pills on him during a motor vehicle stop.
At about 7:45 a.m. on April 14, an officer spotted a motorist traveling south on Park Street using his cell phone, according to a police report.
The officer stopped the car at Old Stamford Road near Oak Grove Place and, on approaching, spotted a marijuana grinder in plain view and also smelled pot, according to the report.
A subsequent search of the driver turned up prescription pills not in their proper container, it said.
Police charged him with possession of narcotics and failure to keep drugs in their original container, and also cited him for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and using a handheld telephone while operating a motor vehicle.
He was released after promising to appear April 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
