As feared, the winter storm that landed in New Canaan overnight has prompted district officials to close school.
It’s the fourth snow day so far this academic year.
“The New Canaan Public Schools and offices, which includes schools, school offices, and central office, will be closed today Monday, February 3, due to the winter storm,” the district said on its website.
The National Weather Service prediction for three to five inches of snow remains unchanged. Now, an additional two to four inches may fall Tuesday night as well. In New Canaan, the Nature Center and library are closed and at the YMCA, youth, group and Playroom programs are canceled.

Metro-North said at 10 a.m. on Twitter that “New Canaan Branch Customers should anticipate delays of up to 20 minutes due to circuit issues in the vicinity of Glenbrook.”
