Police on Monday night arrested a 47-year-old New Canaan woman who already is facing a number of assault and other domestic charges.

At about 10:34 p.m. on Jan. 22, officers responded to a Lakeview Avenue residential development on a report of a possible protective order violation, police said.

There, officers interviewed the victim and then located and found the woman, according to a police report.

Following an investigation, the woman was charged with third-degree assault, violation of a protective order—a felony offense—and disorderly conduct.

According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, the woman also faces the following charges from NCPD from recent past offenses:

  • Third-degree assault and disorderly conduct (September)
  • Risk of injury to a child, disorderly conduct and violation of a protective order (October)
  • Violation of a criminal protective order (November)
  • Violation of a protective order, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct (December).
  • first-degree criminal trespass and two counts of second-degree violation of conditions of release

Police transported the woman to headquarters for processing. She was held on $100,000 bond and scheduled to appear Jan. 23 in state Superior Court.

Police withheld details of the new charges, saying it’s a domestic matter.

A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon,” among other reasons.
