Police late Sunday charged a 54-year-old New Canaan woman with assault and other offenses after she spat on and kicked officers during her arrest.

At about 11:31 p.m. on June 20, officers were dispatched to the Thayer Pond Road house on a report of a domestic dispute involving the woman and another occupant of the home, police said.

There, officers conducted an investigation and, as a result, took the woman into custody on criminal charges, according to a police report. As they took her into custody, the woman became combative and spat on an officer, the report said.

During the booking process at police headquarters, the woman refused to be fingerprinted, was uncooperative and kicked officers, it said.

She ultimately was charged with third-degree assault, interfering with an officer, three counts of assault of public safety, emergency medical, public transit or health care personnel—a felony offense—two counts of disorderly conduct and failure to comply with a fingerprinting request.

She was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court.

  1. This may not be what you initially think it is. Please be kind with comments. They are a very nice and thoughtful family who is suffering.

  2. Cruel and unnecessary to comment in this manner. You have to take several steps to post comments here, so clearly you had time to review your words and felt they were important enough to share. Please be mindful. This is a mother, wife, and community member who I know to be kind and giving.
