One motorist appears to have been hurt in a school bus accident on Route 106 just north of Jelliff Mill Road early Monday.

At about 7:05 a.m., a small-size Dattco bus—serving New Canaan Country School and with no passengers at the time—traveling northbound on Old Stamford Road drifted into the southbound lane and struck an oncoming car nearly head-on, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.

The driver of the motor vehicle was taken to a hospital after the accident, and the individual’s condition is not known, Ogrinc said.

A second car rear-ended the one that had been struck, Ogrinc said. Police cleared the scene around 11:30 a.m., officials say.
