Norman A. “Norm” Jensen, 84, passed away on February 13, 2025.

Norman A. Jensen

Born on April 8, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, Norm had a lifelong passion for creativity and exploration. After graduating high school, he served in the Navy, an experience that shaped his discipline and appreciation for the world around him. Following his service, he pursued his artistic talents at the New York School of Visual Arts, where he refined his skills and deepened his love for creative expression.  He worked as a graphic artist for many years and, being the free spirit he was, spent the last half of his life working freelance and caretaking many properties in Fairfield County.

A true artist at heart, Norm found joy in painting, ceramics, and photography. He was a longtime member of The Carriage Barn, Silvermine Arts Center, and the Rowayton Arts Center.  He continued his education in recent years at Norwalk Community College.  His work often reflected his fascination with Indigenous and Egyptian cultures, themes that resonated deeply with him throughout his life.  He also connected deeply with his Norwegian roots.  Whether capturing the beauty of nature through his lens or bringing visions to life on canvas, he embraced every opportunity to create.

Beyond his artistic pursuits, Norm was known for his lighthearted spirit and active lifestyle. He loved walking in nature, finding inspiration in the changing seasons and quiet moments outdoors. Always present in town and at the library, he was a familiar face to many—someone who could be counted on for a warm smile or an engaging conversation.

Norm is survived by his children, Kristopher Jensen and Laura Jensen (Holden Kramer). He was predeceased by his brothers, Oscar and Tommy.

His memory will live on through the art he created and the lives he touched. May those who knew him find comfort in remembering his warmth and creativity. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

  2. I loved how Norm would bound up to me at an Opening of an art exhibition and want to talk about my work, and his. And our lives. I knew him from my days in Silvermine too. Larger than life, interested in everything and everyone. I’ll miss him greatly. My condolences, Kris and Laura.

  3. Goodbye old friend. Will be seeing you again soon enough. Your strength and willingness to move forward with gusto into all of life’s adventures will always be an inspiration to me. Your ready smile and sincere interest in the lives of those around you will be missed by many; certainly me. I am certain you had a great homecoming party on the other side.
