Police on Friday night cited a 27-year-old Virginia woman for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.

Alerted by a report of a motorist driving erratically near Nursery and Marvin Ridge Roads around 6:10 p.m., police spotted and pulled her over. Approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled marijuana and the driver handed over a coin purse with a small baggie of marijuana as well as two small cigars used for rolling, police said.

A 20-year-old Norwalk woman who was a passenger in the car was not charged.

A 44-year-old Forest Street man was arrested by warrant Monday and charged with failure to appear.

He hadn’t shown up in court on Dec. 4 after Darien Police arrested him in August on several motor vehicle charges, including operating an unregistered vehicle and while his license was under suspension, police said.

Officers found him at home while there on a “welfare check,” police said.

He was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
