Emergency responders on Monday afternoon rushed to the scene of a single-car crash near Irwin Park.
An early assessment of the crash on Wahackme Road showed no serious injuries, officials said, though the front end of the involved black Toyota Prius hybrid suffered significant damage after crashing into a tree.
The sedan came to rest facing eastbound off of Wahackme’s west side after crashing at about 12:30 p.m.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash, how many passengers were in the Toyota or whether motor vehicle citations will follow a police investigation.
New Canaan Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were on scene.
Police directed a single lane of traffic around the crash scene, while pedestrians walking the Flexi-pave path at Irwin on a sunny day stopped to see what was happening.
