Police before dawn on Sunday arrested a 19-year-old East Maple Street man for stealing a $5 stress relief device from the Mobil gas station downtown.
At about 3:13 a.m. on June 11, officers were dispatched to the South Avenue business on a report that a “fidget cube” had been stolen, according to a police report.
There, officers identified the teen who had taken the item from the store and subsequently returned it to the clerk, the report said.
Police found the young man at home and charged him with sixth-degree larceny.
Officers also found a glass pipe use to smoke marijuana and the teen said it was his, according to the report.
He was additionally cited for use and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police released the teen after he promised to appear June 23 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
Officers identified a second 19-year-old New Canaan man, a Smith Ridge Road resident, who had been with the arrested man at the Mobil station and then at the teen’s East Maple Street home, the report said. They found a baggie of marijuana and rolling papers on him, and cited that teen for possession of marijuana.
