Police last week arrested a 37-year-old Norwalk man by warrant for taking money for work at a New Canaan home that he never completed.

Jose Bernardo Ruiz, of Cedar Street, was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, a felony offense.
On April 5, a resident wrote checks to Ruiz totaling $12,915 to complete plumbing and carpentry work at a local home, according to a police work.
Ruiz cashed those checks but didn’t do the work, the report said.
On Oct. 18, he turned himself in an active arrest warrant, was held on $20,000 bond and scheduled to appear the next day in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
Police additionally charged Ruiz with second-degree failure to appear. He hadn’t appeared in court in connection with a motor vehicle charge from earlier this year.
