It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ralph Inness Pereida (‘Rip’) on Friday, August 15, 2025, in Boise, ID. He was 79 years old.

Ralph (‘Rip’) Pereida
Born to Ralph and Anita (Brown) Pereida of New Canaan, CT, Rip attended Purdue University and worked as a chemical engineer and plant manager for Morton Thiokol for 34 years, living in Chicago, IL; Manistee, MI; Crystal Lake, IL; and Warsaw, IN before retiring to his dream house in the mountains in Boise, ID. He is survived by his wife, Chrys (Teeter) Pereida; his daughter, Alison (Pereida) Knapp; and his siblings, Ed Pereida and Laurie (Pereida) Sawhill. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen (Sebesta).
Rip was an avid outdoorsman, fireworks enthusiast, gifted photographer, skilled hockey player, proud cat dad, and constant tinkerer. He was never without a project and always itching to go for a hike, finding interest, adventure and enjoyment all around him. His delight in life was infectious, bringing out the inner child in everyone he encountered; he will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Rip did not want a memorial service; instead, his family asks that you spend some time in nature remembering him. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Rip’s memory to Sierra Club or The Nature Conservancy.
