Police last week arrested a 72-year-old Stamford man and charged him with risk of injury to a child, a felony offense, and second-degree breach of peace.
On Aug. 29, officers responded to a dispute at a Millport Avenue home between the man and the victim, according to a police report.
There, police conducted an investigation and established probable cause to arrest him, the report said.
He was transported to police headquarters and processed on the criminal charges, it said.
It’s unclear whether the man is related to the victim or what he’s accused of doing. Police withheld information, saying it’s a domestic matter.
Under state law, a person is guilty of risk of injury if he or she “wilfully or unlawfully causes or permits any child under the age of sixteen years to be placed in such a situation that the life or limb of such child is endangered, the health of such child is likely to be injured or the morals of such child are likely to be impaired, or does any act likely to impair the health or morals of any such child,” among other reasons.
Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree breach of peace if he or she “engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior in a public place; or (2) assaults or strikes another; or (3) threatens to commit any crime against another person or such other person’s property; or (4) publicly exhibits, distributes, posts up or advertises any offensive, indecent or abusive matter concerning any person; or (5) in a public place, uses abusive or obscene language or makes an obscene gesture,” among other reasons.
The was released on a promise to appear Aug. 30 in state Superior Court.
