The family of Elliott Kropf, a New Canaan High School senior who died last weekend, will hold a service and life celebration at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Church.
The service will be followed at approximately 12 or 12:15 p.m. for a Life Celebration at Weeburn Beach Club, 112 Roton Ave. in Rowayton/Norwalk.
“Bring hockey sticks and/or golf clubs to Weeburn for a moment of silence and group photo of children on the beach,” family representatives say.
“We encourage you to share your memories, stories, or anecdotes about Elliott at elliott22forever@gmail.com,” they said. “These can range from significant moments to everyday interactions, showcasing Elliott’s impact and the love he shared with friends.”
That email is only for the Kropf family and will go to them directly.
Weeburn Beach Club has limited parking and is asking for attendees to carpool as much as possible. All clergy in New Canaan and Darien been invited to attend, and Silver Hill Hospital professionals will be on hand to provide support services during and after the gathering.
New Canaan Public Schools is asking parents of students who plan to attend services for the 16-year-old to email the attendance office at nchsattendance@ncps-k12.org to verify their child’s absence.
“By coming together as a community in support and love, we ensure nobody worries alone as we navigate these challenging days together,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bryan Luizzi said in an email sent to New Canaan High School parents and staff.
The Boards of Education and Selectmen honored Kropf’s life and memory this week with moments of silence held at public meetings.
On Wednesday night, Police Commission Chair Paul Foley said during the appointed body’s regular meeting, “The Commission would like to acknowledge that our town has been going through a series of sad and heartbreaking events, and we are truly hurting and we are, as a community, hurting right now.”
Referring to the town’s annual 9/11 memorial service and then two sudden deaths “that are very painful and tragic for the families, for the friends, for our schools and for our community,” Foley said the Commission “would like to recognize how valuable our emergency services personnel handled these events.”
“They handled them within professionalism and respect and dignity,” Foley said at the meeting, held in Town Hall and via videoconference. “So I would like to thank our police, fire and EMS who responded to these events.”
He called for a moment of silence for the families of the deceased, asking those in attendance to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
At the start of Wednesday night’s Town Council meeting, Chair Michael Mauro said he wanted to “acknowledge the loss of one of our beaut children of the town in a very tragic incident over the weekend and I would like to propose a moment of silence in his honor.”
Mauro continued during the meeting, held at Town Hall and via videoconference, “It’s one of those moments in life that will just absolutely crush your existence and we grieve as a community with the family and keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they are dealing with an extraordinarily tragic time.”
