New Canaan could see up to two feet of snow between Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening, officials say, as a “potentially historic winter storm” approaches, according to the National Weather Service. Heavy and blowing snow with gusts up to 50 mph could see accumulation of even more than two feet, the NWS says.

Approximately six inches of snow fell overnight Friday to Saturday in New Canaan, officials say, and the town remains under a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service through 6 p.m. Saturday, as occasional rain and more snow is expected through the morning and afternoon. Slippery road conditions prompted New Canaan Library officials to delay opening to 10 a.m. The New Canaan Racquet Club will open at 11 a.m., and will hold all classes scheduled for 11 a.m. and after, officials say. The forecast calls for an additional one or two inches of snow after 3 p.m.
