Street Style: DIY Edition

With summer in full swing, it’s easy to fall into a pattern of athletic shorts and tank tops. Kelly Adams of Ridgefield, who graduated from St. Luke’s this past spring, knows how to look stylish without sacrificing the comfort of those pieces.

Kelly Adams, University of Notre Dame ’21, brings DIY to Elm Street.

NewCanaanite: What are you wearing today?

Kelly: I just put on an off-the-shoulder top from Brandy Melville in navy, which has been my favorite color to wear. The shorts are actually old jeans that my friend found at Goodwill and cut into shorts. I just cuffed them at the bottom for a more put-together look. The sunglasses are from a thrift store, too.

NewCanaanite: What would you say you’re day-to-day style is?

Kelly: I like to be comfortable always. I never wear anything too fancy and I am drawn to more basic pieces. I gravitate toward solid colors as well.

What are your top five favorite stores?

Kelly: I shop pretty much anywhere, but recently I have liked Urban Outfitters, Zara, Brandy Melville, Anthropologie, and, honestly, any thrift store I can find. Thrift stores have great clothes if you’re willing to hunt for them. Be sure to donate, too!
