A two-car accident snarled traffic on Old Stamford Road north of the Farm Road intersection on Monday afternoon.
New Canaan police, firefighters and EMTs responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries at about 3:24 p.m.
An SUV appeared to have rear-ended a Volvo wagon on state Route 106 near Richard’s Lane, according to firefighters on the scene. Only the two vehicles were involved, and it did not appear that anyone had suffered serious injuries, the firefighters said. One party refused medical attention and members of the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps were treating others on scene, they said.
Emergency responders directed an alternating single lane of traffic while officials cleaned debris and fluids from the roads.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the rear-ending or whether police would bring charges. NewCanaanite.com will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
