Today’s Q&A with a local business is with Christine Keane, owner of Found & Design on Elm Street. Here’s our exchange. New Canaanite: You opened on Elm Street in 2016, hitting the five-year milestone this year. How’s it going at Found & Design? Christine Keane: Really well.

‘Everybody Has Been Really Complimentary’: Home Décor Store Off To Strong Start

The home décor store that opened June 4 in the heart of downtown New Canaan has been well received in the early-going, according to its owner. Found at 147 Elm St., it offers jewelry, books, furniture, home decorations, and more.  “Everybody in the area has been really complimentary,” said Christine Keane, a Darien resident and first-time independent business owner. “They said that there was a need for a home store,” she said. It offers a unique combination of old and new.

‘Traditional with a Twist’: Home Décor Store ‘Found’ To Open on Elm Street

A Darien woman plans to open a new home décor retail store on Elm Street next month. The guiding principle of the shop at 147 Elm St., called ‘Found,’ is “mixing old with new,” owner Christine Keane said. “It’s always been my dream to own my own business and I’ve always done antiquing and loved that and showing people how to mix old with new,” she said midday Thursday as boxes of the accent pieces that will form the core of her retail business arrived as the cozy shop. “I’ve done that on the side, so I just decided: Why not? Now’s the time.”

A native of Morris County in northern New Jersey who earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Providence College, Keane said she has “always been in the design industry.”

“I used to be a designer in the fashion industry and also in the home industry,” she said.
