Letter: Selectman Beth Jones Endorses Kit Devereaux

Editor, New Canaanite:

I urge my fellow New Canaanites to go the polls on November 7 and vote for Kit Devereaux for First Selectwoman. I have been a member of the Board of Selectmen for the past six years and have an insider’s view of what the job takes. Kit’s deep understanding of New Canaan, her keen intellect and her financial expertise, coupled with her kindness and humility are the recipe for a perfect First Selectman. Every vote will count. Please cast yours for Kit Devereaux.

Letter: First Selectman Candidate Kevin Moynihan ‘the Right Person’ to Face New Canaan’s Budgeting, Managerial Challenges

The role of First Selectman becomes more demanding every year and requires a combination of financial, legal and managerial skills. The Town of New Canaan is a complex business, with a $140 million annual budget and 200 employees. I worked in Town Hall for the past six years and I saw first-hand the budgeting and managerial challenges facing our Town. Kevin Moynihan is the right person to face these challenges. Kevin has 35 years of business experience in the legal profession and he has served as a Member of the Town Council for the last four years.

Letter: New Canaan Teen Endorses Kit Devereaux for First Selectman ‘Because of How She Treated Me’

Dear Editor,

I’m 17 so I can’t vote in the upcoming election, but if I could I’d vote for Kit. I met Kit at St. Mark’s Church where we are both parishioners, but we really became friends on a tour of historic barns in town. I was the only kid on the tour, and she noticed me taking pictures of the barns and drawing in a sketchbook. She took an interest in me and my work.

Letter: In Giving Thanks, Most Grateful for First Selectman Candidate Kit Devereaux

Editor:

As Election Day and Thanksgiving season approach, I am reminded of the many things for which I give thanks. I give thanks for our wonderful Town and for the opportunity to have served our community on the Town Council and Board of Finance. I am also thankful for the experience of my first election running for Town Treasurer, losing by 47 votes and learning that every vote matters. I am also grateful for all of the candidates seeking roles in public service as this year’s contested races have engendered healthy debate which is good for our entire community. Today, I am most thankful for Kit Devereaux, our candidate for First Selectwoman.

Letter: First Selectman Candidate Kevin Moynihan ‘Best Suited To Lead Our Town’

The recurring theme from both candidates during the LVW debate is that our issues, such as cell service and commuter parking, are not Democrat or Republican issues, they are Town of New Canaan issues. There is a difference between the candidates running for First Selectman. We need a leader who can think outside of the box, and does not feel the need to limit options unnecessarily. This ability to consider all options frees those tasked with providing options or solutions to consider all the possibilities, with deliberate, thoughtful and careful analysis. First Selectman Candidate Kevin Moynihan is best suited to lead our town and face New Canaan’s issues. Let’s take Kevin’s efforts on natural gas as an example.
