Police: Jewelry, Handbags Stolen from Hemlock Hill Road Home

Police say jewelry and handbags were reported stolen Sunday from a New Canaan home—the fifth residential burglary in town in the past six weeks. Homeowners discovered the illegal entry and theft from a Hemlock Hill Road house upon returning there on Nov. 14, though the burglary itself is believed to have occurred on Friday, according to a press release from Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.

As in other recent burglaries, a rear patio glass door had been broken to enter the home, Krolikowski said. An alarm at the residence had not been activated by the homeowner, he said in the release.

“Darien is experiencing similar burglaries,” the chief said. “These burglaries are under active investigation.
