Two New Canaan Women Arrested Following Dispute about Loud Music

More

Police on Sunday night arrested two neighbors at a Millport Avenue apartment complex following a noise complaint.

At about 7:59 p.m. on June 27, officers were dispatched to 59 Millport Ave. on a complaint of loud noise made by 59-year-old woman, according to a police report.

Through an investigation, police determined that she and neighbor, a 40-year-old woman, had a dispute regarding loud music, the report said. The dispute also involved how the older woman addressed a juvenile related to her neighbor, it said.

Police charged both women with disorderly conduct.

Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when he or she, “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.

Each of them was released after promising to appear July 27 in state Superior Court.
