Up to $3,000 in Jewelry Reported Stolen from Old Norwalk Road Home

Police are investigating a reported home burglary Thursday that saw somewhere between $2,000 and $3,000 in jewelry and jewelry boxes go missing from an Old Norwalk Road home.

A 45-year-old woman said some time between 8:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., her home was entered and that items including necklaces, high school ring and pins were removed from her bedroom, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.

The home was not locked and showed no signs of forced entry, according to a police report.

She reported it to police at about 3:58 p.m. Thursday.

New Canaan police issued the following tips following a rash of home burglaries in town around the time of the Fourth of July holiday:

  1. Activate alarm systems—always—even when leaving your house for a short time.
  2. Lock all doors and windows.
  3. Never leave your keys in your car.
  4. Report all suspicious persons or vehicles to our Department at 203-594-3500.
  5. Secure all valuables.
