Vincenzo “Jimmy” Socci, age 86, a lifelong New Canaan resident died Saturday May 13, 2017 peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in New Canaan, he was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Terenzio Socci.

He was married to his loving wife Victoria Lapinsky Socci for 64 years.

In addition to his wife Victoria, he is survived by his devoted children, two daughters; Victoria L. Scosta and her husband David of Brookfield, and Simrin Michele Socci and her significant other Les Montgomery of Brattleboro, Vt., two sons; Edward James Socci, of Green Castle, Mo., Michael A. Socci and his wife Janeen of New Canaan, four sisters; Theresa Pinder, Anna Calitri both of New Canaan, Marie DiCostanzo of Wilton, and Joan Legenzowski of South Salem, N.Y. and one brother; Philip Socci and his wife Josephine of Stamford. He’s also survived by his four cherished grandchildren Christopher A. Scosta and his wife Katherine of Danbury, Jason A. Scosta and his fiancé Stacy A. Breen of Stamford, and Jake and Hannah Socci of New Canaan, as well as one great grandchild Scarlett Scosta along with several nieces and nephews.

Jim was pre-deceased by his brother Peter and his two sisters Rae and Josephine.

Jim was a volunteer firefighter for the New Canaan Fire Department for over 50 years, but his greatest passion was his family. In addition, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered as a loving and compassionate man with an everlasting smile.

A memorial Mass will be announced at a later date and will be held at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan with Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim’s life.
