In this 2-day workshop on West Afrikan Puppetry, students will make masks using recycled materials, each with a personality that will become a character in the final presentation on Sunday at 2pm. The major difference between West Afrikan puppetry and the westernized idea of puppetry is YOU become the puppet instead of operating the puppet. Our Teen Committee is hosting a game night on Friday, June 23rd from 5-8pm. Card games, video games and retro board games - come join in the fun! This event is FREE and open to all teens, and includes food and drinks! Sponsored by the Melissa Wilkinson Foundation.

Students will create surrealist portraits. We will begin by taking inspiration from existing surrealist artists. Students will then develop their own unique concepts, focusing on identity. We will sharpen our painting skills and introduce color theory while making courageous choices in our art. Let’s celebrate who we are in a supportive and fun environment! Making and experiencing art helps us become whole. A great way to do this is through photography and poetry, as both are incredibly accessible art forms. Led by Artist Chelsea Danburg and Korry Fellow Isabella Montenegro, this workshop is for ages 12 and up. Adults welcome! Please bring a printed photograph with you. It will be held in the main gallery and open to drop ins.

In this free class, students from The Norwalk Art Space will get the opportunity to share their culture and personal stories through art-making with Ukrainian teens attending RaDity – Радіти “A Space for Children to Get Happy,” a summer camp and art school in Ukraine. Located in the wooded countryside in Western Ukraine, “RaDity Space” provides a haven for children traumatized by the ongoing war. Isabella Montenegro, Korry Fellow and Curator of the "If You're ___ & You Know It" exhibition at the The Norwalk Art Space, will moderate this artist talk featuring 8 of the artists from the exhibition. The artists include Kasimir Comunale, Britt Garth, Casey Correra, Kelly Walters, Brea Thomas-Young, Sharon Smalls, Nadia Martinez, and June Ahrens. A second artist talk on August 27th will feature the other 8 artists.

Join us for a free Vinyasa flow yoga class in the main gallery, taught by Sachini Welikannage. She will be guiding us through an open level Vinyasa flow, syncing breath and movement. Beginners welcome! Ages 16 and up. Please bring your own mat!

Threads of Gratitude allows us to remember with gratitude those events and people that were meaningful in our lives while creating a beautiful pin and thread artwork. DJ Dana Game will be spinning throughout the evening, and students of the Petty-Drayton Music Program will perform at 7pm. The exhibition will be on display through March 7, 2024 during regular opening hours (Wed-Fri 8am-3pm, Sat-Sun 9am-3pm).
