New Canaan Police last week charged a 21-year-old Waterbury man with felony larceny in connection with a motor vehicle theft.
At about 10 a.m. on Dec. 6, officers served the warrant to the man at state Superior Court in Stamford, according to a police report.
Authorities identified him as a result of collecting DNA from the recovered stolen vehicle, the report said.
The man was charged with first-degree larceny—meaning the value of the stolen property exceeded $20,000—and also was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, the same man was arrested by Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police in April 2023 and charged with second-degree threatening, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.
The man is being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Feb. 7.
