Police on Tuesday night arrested a 52-year-old Silvermine Road woman by warrant and charged her with driving under the influence.

The warrant followed a single-car crash at about 1:59 p.m. on April 10 (a Saturday) at Silvermine and Canoe Hill Roads, according to a police report.

Arriving officers saw a vehicle that had traveled off of Silvermine and crashed into a utility pole, the report said.

During an investigation, officers spoke to the sole occupant of the vehicle and smelled alcohol on her breath, it said. She was transported to Norwalk Hospital to be evaluated for any injuries, and police secured a search warrant to establish her blood-alcohol level, the report said.

The results came back at .40, five times the legal limit of .08, police said.

The woman was additionally cited for failure to drive right, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and driving without insurance.

She was released on $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear June 24 in state Superior Court.
