Noted Economist Editor Is Men’s Club speaker
February 2 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Daniel Franklin, executive editor of The Economist, will provide his outlook on what lies ahead for the U.S. and global economies at the New Canaan Men’s Club meeting Feb. 2, to be held at Morrill Hall in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge.
Franklin, who also serves at U.S. editor of the prestigious global newspaper, has been executive editor of the publication since 2006. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Franklin assessing the economic prospects and potential political developments affecting the U.S. and countries across the globe.
In his remarks, Franklin is likely to assess the strength of the U.S. economy coming off the fourth quarter’s annual rate of 3.3% and the outlook for the Fed’s easing of interest rates, a prospect which ultimately affects mortgage rates. Other potential topics include the economic impact of tensions in the Middle East; the continued Russian war against Ukraine; and the realignment of international alliances taking place within Europe and Asia.
Alongside those concerns, technological developments are raising issues, especially the advances and increasing reliance on artificial intelligence.
The Men’s Club has openings for new members. Men 55-years and above may email ncmens@ncmens.info for information about joining.
