Police last week arrested a 47-year-old New Canaan man by warrant and charged him with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and violation of a protective order.
They took custody of the Lakeview Avenue man at his home on Dec. 14, according to a police report.
A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon,” among other reasons.
Police withheld details of the incident that prompted the arrest, saying it’s a domestic matter.
The same man had been charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct in September, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch records.
He hasn’t pleaded to any of the charges, including the felony charge of violation of a protective order, court records show.
The man was held on $30,000 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 6 in state Superior Court.
