Police last weekend arrested a 37-year-old New Canaan woman by warrant and charged her with second-degree breach of peace.
At about 11:02 p.m. on Oct. 31, officers were dispatched to an Avalon Drive East home regarding a dispute between the woman and another person in the home, according to a police report.
It isn’t clear what led to the misdemeanor charge, where the incident occurred, whether it was physical or involved threatening, who the victim was or whether that person is related to the arrested woman.
Police declined to provide details, saying it’s a domestic matter.
Under state law, second-degree breach of peace occurs “when, with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof, such person: (1) Engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior in a public place; or (2) assaults or strikes another; or (3) threatens to commit any crime against another person or such other person’s property; or (4) publicly exhibits, distributes, posts up or advertises any offensive, indecent or abusive matter concerning any person,” among other reasons.
The woman surrendered herself to police at 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 18.
She was released after promising to appear Dec. 20 in state Superior Court.
