Saying the tenants of an East Hills Drive duplex haven’t paid rent this calendar year, the homeowner on April 16 filed eviction papers in state Superior Court. The month-to-month payment of $1,750 hasn’t been made by the four occupants of 9 East Hills Drive since January, according to a complaint filed by Norwalk-based attorney Abram Heisler. The complaint identifies two of the tenants by name and says the property owner doesn’t know who the other two people living there are.

The New Canaan Building Department on April 22 issued an after-the-fact building permit for a $14,000 kitchen renovation job at 19 Olmstead Court. The homeowner served as contractor for the work, the permit said, and paid the town $205 in fees.

Bankwell on Thursday announced the re-launch of its Bankwell Pet Adoption Project, creating awareness about the many dogs and cats in need of homes at animal shelters throughout Fairfield and New Haven Counties. This is the third year for the program, which features photos and information about available dogs and cats on billboards, ads, social media, the bank’s website, and throughout all of the bank’s branches. The bank kicked off the program in the spring of 2017, and the adoption rate at local shelters spiked, with more than 85% of featured animals finding a home last year.

New Canaan’s community health nurse offers monthly wellness visits to New Canaan’s disabled or senior residents that find it too difficult to leave their home, including a blood press use check, safety assessment and discussion of health concerns.
