The town on Jan. 10 received a notice of intent to sue on behalf of a woman said to have sustained multiple injuries when tree branches fell on her one evening last month. Rachel Coder Matthews sustained head laceration, fractured spine, headaches, concussion and brain hemorrhage as a result of the incident along Lapham Road at Waveny, according to attorney Steven Landis of Stamford-based The Pickel Law Firm LLC. It happened at about 7 p.m. on Dec. 17, he said in a Notice of Claim filed with the Town Clerk’s office.

Ronald Balzano, Peter Bridgman, Marian Curtis Blair, Mary Franco, David Hunt and Penny Young have been elected to Waveny LifeCare Network’s board of directors, officials say. The board also unanimously elected Kathleen A. Corbet as chairman, Leo Karl III as vice chairman, Curtis Blair as secretary and Hunt as treasurer.

The town’s solar panel installation at the Waveny Pool pavilion has been completed. The project is expected to reduce the electrical load from use of pool equipment and motors and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Complaints related to juveniles increased sharply in 2019, up to 62 from 22 the prior year, according to statistics released Wednesday at the Police Commission’s regular meeting. Larcenies declined from 81 to 54 in the same period, while total incidents declined from 17,459 to 13,755.
