The New Canaan Building Department has received applications to demolish structures at the following addresses: 1365 Valley Road, 133 Woodland Road and 123 Woodland Road.

The dog who bit a 12-year-old boy Monday evening as he walked on a trail off of Old Norwalk Road has been identified and the animal’s vaccinations are up-to-date, police said.

As of Tuesday, New Canaan had 186 confirmed cases of COVID-19 virus (and three probable cases), according to the Connecticut Department of Public Health. The figure is up seven since July 7.

Attorney Amy Zabetakis of Rucci Law Group, which recently opened a New Canaan office, has published a blogpost “Real Estate and Zoning During COVID-19.”

Wilton resident Kim Healy, Republican-endorsed candidate for state Senate District 26, which includes New Canaan, announced last week that she met the qualifying threshold of the Citizens Election Program. Her campaign raised $16,370 from 372 contributors, according to a press release.

The long-planned West Road bridge replacement project will commence next week, town officials said in a press release. Traffic north of the Turtleback Road intersection will be diverted, and the new bridge will open some time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the press release said.

Finally, New Canaan resident Shamil Idriss, CEO of Search for Common Ground, addressed the New Canaan Rotary Club recently on the topic of peace-building via conflict transformation. Idriss is a graduate of Swarthmore College. His organization has more than 900 in staff members in more than 25 countries, and was nominated for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize, according to Rotary Club.
