Congratulations to 2010 New Canaan High School graduate Dolly Meckler, founder of New York City-based challah bread company Challah Dolly. What started as a hobby in March 2020 when Meckler couldn’t find freelance work during the pandemic “took on a life of its own via Instagram” and “got some great press in Forbes and The New Yorker,” she said. As part of its partnership with the Carver Foundation, Bankwell will be collecting new and “like new” luggage through Friday, April 8, at the 156 Cherry St. branch in New Canaan and 370 Westport Avenue branch in Norwalk. The selectmen during Tuesday’s meeting approved a legal bill that includes a $612 line item called “moratorium application.” According to the bill, an attorney from the firm Berchem Moses PC spent .9 hours in email correspondence with Town Planner Lynn Brooks Avni on Feb. 18 “regarding 8-30g moratorium; review of draft materials.” Separately, the town spent $9,611.50 in legal fees on an item called “751 Weed Street – 8-30g application” for work done throughout the month that involved communications with Moynihan, Board of Finance Chair Todd Lavieri, Planning & Zoning Commission Chair John Goodwin, Town Council Chair Steve Karl and Brooks Avni.

The NC Color Drop will take place at 10 a.m. March 26 in Waveny.
