New Canaan Police at 12:36 p.m. Monday received a report from an Oak Street resident that their vehicle had been stolen overnight. The keys were left inside. It was recovered in West Haven.

Police on Sunday night received calls about two kittens that appear to have been dumped or otherwise abandoned in New Canaan, at 8:43 p.m. (at 39 Locust Ave.) and 9:13 p.m. (in the area of 282 New Norwalk Road). They’re both at the Animal Control Shelter now.

Waveny LifeCare Network, in partnership with the New Canaan Community Foundation and Jim and Dede Bartlett, this week unveiled a new initiative designed to help the family members and primary caregivers of individuals grappling with memory loss and cognitive challenges. The “Navigator: Alzheimer’s at Home in New Canaan” program is designed to help caregivers facing “daunting hurdles in accessing timely assistance at home, leading to feelings of isolation, heightened stress, financial strains, and the emotional toll of witnessing their loved one’s condition deteriorate,” the organization says. Police put down a sick raccoon reported to authorities in the area of Valley and Colonial Roads at 6:09 p.m. on May 22.

At the New Canaan Old Timers Association golf outing in 2016, held at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course.

The 2024 New Canaan Old Timers Golf Outing will be held Tuesday, June 25 at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield. The ​New Canaan Old Timers Association’s outing benefits the Vin Iovino Scholarship and New Canaan High School athletic scholarships. The U.S. Department of Justice on May 23 issued a press release saying a 55-year-old New Canaan man had waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to tax evasion. He “formed and operated various entities, including Grey Brown, Inc. (a holding company for several restaurants operating under the name “Oaxaca Taqueria”), West Partners, Inc., and NY Cloud Kitchens, LLC,” according to the release. For about 10 years starting in 2013, he failed to disclose “significant income” to the IRS, it said. He hasn’t been sentenced yet.

Don’t miss it: Staying Put in New Canaan’s “Summer Soirée” will be held at 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6 at Waveny House. It’s $75 per person—tickets here.
