Police on Sunday arrested a 49-year-old New Canaan woman and charged her with disorderly conduct.

At about 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 27, officers were dispatched to a River Street home on a report of a dispute between the woman and another occupant of the house.

Following an investigation, she was charged with the misdemeanor offense.

It isn’t clear what the dispute involved whether it turned physical or whether or how the victim is related to the arrested woman.

Police withheld details, saying it was a domestic matter.

Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.

The woman was released after promising to appear Monday in state Superior Court.
