Police charged a 31-year-old man with driving under the influence after finding him passed out behind the wheel of a running car parked on Richmond Hill late last Tuesday afternoon.
Alerted to the situation by a civilian, police at about 4:40 p.m. found the driver reclined in his seat with the motor running, according to a police report. They woke up the motorist and straightaway smelled alcohol on him, the report said, and also saw an open can of beer in the cup holder.
He failed field sobriety tests, the report said.
The motorist was released on $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear April 20 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
