Felony Criminal Mischief Charge for Woman, 33

Police last week arrested a 33-year-old Stamford woman by warrant and charged her with first-degree criminal mischief.

The warrant stemmed from a vandalism investigation that New Canaan Police conducted after receiving a complaint last month.

Under state law, a person is guilty of first-degree criminal mischief if he or she “[w]ith intent to cause damage to tangible property of another and having no reasonable ground to believe that such person has a right to do so, such person damages tangible property of another in an amount exceeding one thousand five hundred dollars,” among other reasons.

The woman turned herself in to police at 8:48 a.m. on Feb. 29 on the felony offense.

She was released on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear March 13 in state Superior Court.
